Magazine cover design

Hello everyone,

So in my last computers lesson we created are own magazine cover using the image that we photoshopped. For the magazine cover we were practicing how to do the front cover lay out on a magazine and how we designed it instead of focusing on the actual information so we chose to use information and the title of a existing fashion magazine.

This is the magazine cover that I created using different design elements that are required when you create a magazine. One of the main things that you need to include on a magazine cover is the masthead. The masthead is the name of the magazine which is displayed in the type face of the magazine, making it recognisable, and this is generally displayed at the top of the magazine in a large font. I chose the use the masthead of Elle magazine and I really like how this turned out, I was able to create a font that filled the top of the page and I matched the colour of the font to the models top to make it tie together. Alongside the title I put the dateline and this is the date of when the magazine was published and this can go anywhere on the magazine and is generally in quite a small type face. The large image of the model on the cover is called the main image and I used the photo that I photoshopped on a previous post, with the main image you need to put the model credit which is just the models name, for my magazine I just made up a name for my model. Other sections of magazine design that I included in my magazine is the left third and cover lines, the left third is the left quarter of the magazine cover where most of the information goes as when magazines are laid out it is what you will see so it will draw in readers. Most of the cover lines tend to go into the left third, cover lines are the main pieces of information that are in the magazine. the cover lines are placed around the main image around there face so they don't distract from the model too much. I used my cover lines in the left third and the other side of the cover, I think with my cover I could have used more cover lines as they don't show that much information. The last thing that I needed to include in my magazine cover is the main cover line, this is the main selling point of the magazine and is designed to draw people in so this is usually done in a bigger type face so that it stands out.
