Wrapping paper experiments

Hello everyone,

So I have currently been working on the second part of my second part of my natural packaging project. As part of this project we had to take the topics we looked at in our last project and we would use this research to create a wrapping paper, 6 fabric designs and 6 fashion illustrations. To start with I started off by doing my wrapping paper and I chose to use fish for my inspiration.

To start with I took my experimental drawings from the first part of the project and photocoppied the key features that I liked from these drawings. I used these photocoppies to create a mind map showing the parts of my experimental drawings that I liked and that I wanted to use to create my patterns from. These are some of the images that I looked at for inspiration for my wrapping paper.

In this mind map I focused on looking at the differnt lines that i had created and how i could create differnt lines for my wrapping paper.

After I had finished creating my mind I then took a view finder and singled out parts of the experimental drawings to use to create my patterns. I then photocoppied these and cut them out and stuck them out and stuck them together. This allowed me to easily create my patterns to then work from.

Once I had created my patterns to start with I was now ready to start experimenting with lots of differnt medias. I started off by using ink and bleach, I liked how these patterns turned out as I like the differnt effects that I could make while using the ink and bleach and I could use wax to act as a resist agains the ink. I experimented with using differnt medias to apply the ink and bleach with to see what differnt effects and lines I could create.

Next I experimented with how I make the pattern look seamless, so that the pattern flowed together. I have explained how to do this in a pervious blog post. I used black and white to start with and then I experimented with using colour and how I could apply this to my patterns.

Now I experimented with creating patterns using a collage. I layered differnt medias to create my patterns. I really like how these collages have turned out as I like how they are layered and create fiffernt effects with the differnt papers.

I have also done lots of differnt experiments with differnt paints and ways of applying paint to the paper.

Thank you for reading and I hope you have enjoyed looking at my work.
