London Fashion Week

Hello everyone,

So on Saturday the 15th of September I was given the oppertunity to work at London Fashion Week. This was one of the best experiences ever. I was given this opportunity by my college course which selected a few students to help.

On the day we caught the train up to London and then took the tube to the location of the fashion show. Once we got there we got there we went and found the rom where we would be doing the fittings, we got our wrist bands which allowed us to go backstage and we waited for the designers too arrive.

Once the designers had arrived we started to unpack att there collections, they came with really small suitcases with there garments all squished in, this meant that the clothes were really creased so we had lots of steaming to do. Our job was to steam all the garments to make sure there were no creases in them, this took a very long time as there was a lot of clothes with a lot of fabric, you had to be very careful when when steaming as you didn't want to get the fabric wet as it might ruin the garment.

Next we had to help with fitting the garments on the models, this consisted of the models coming in and the designer would say who they wanted in what outfit and then change there mind so they could see who looked best in what, this took a very long time containing lots of changes, we had to help the models get changed and had to hang the garments in the correct places. There was two groups of us so one group took two designers and my group took three designers, making us extra busy. After all the fittings were done we then has to steam all the garments again so that there were no creases in them.

When everything was steamed and ready we had to start getting ready for the show. We took all the rails of clothing to the backstage area, which was very small, to put them in place for the show. When all the models came in it got very crowded and busy. We then started to get the models dressed and organised ourselves for when the fashion show begun so we would all know what hwe had to do as there were a lot of quick changes.

When the fashion show begun there was no time to waist, there was lots of changes and stress as you had to make sure that everything was perfect and in place so that the designers were happy with what was going out on the runway. The show didn't last very long so once it was over we were all very relieved that everything had gone to plan and worked well.

Once the fashion show was over we packed everything away and left straight away, we took the tube back to Waterloo and jumped straight onto the train. I was so tired by the end of the day and went straight to sleep when I got home. It had the best time and it was a amazing experience that I got to have.

Thank you so much for reading,

Amy xxx
